Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at Mitchell Museum of the American Indian

What: The three-day event will be held at the 3009 Central Street building, directly next door to the museum in Evanston. Jewelry, pottery, beadwork, baskets, fetishes, drawings and paintings, quilts, blankets, clothing and an array of other items will be available for purchase.

What else: Shop early, meet the artists, and enjoy wine, cheese, and live music at Friday’s preview party. On Saturday and Sunday, in addition to selling unique gifts, artists will demonstrate their technique, speak about their culture and art, and answer visitor questions.

Who: Award-winning artists include 6th generation potter Judy Tafoya (Santa Clara), sketch artist/painter Robert Wapahi (Santee Sioux), beadwork artist Norma Robertson (Sisseton Wapehton), jewelry designer Nelson Garcia (Kewa/Santo Domingo Pueblo), painter Chris Sweet (Ho-Chunk Nation), birchbark, beadwork and textile artists Cyndee Fox-Starr and Angel Starr of Fox-Way Designs (Omaha/Odawa & Arikara), and beaded jewelry Darlene Ortiz (Navajo), and will be joined by Native art vendors Tom Berreth (Gwich’in) of Berre Enterprise and Joanne Perret (Penobscot) of Native Visions.

When:  Friday, Nov. 30 from 6:30pm– 8:30pm, Saturday, Dec. 1 from 10am–5pm, and Sunday, Dec. 2 from 12pm–4pm

Where: 3009 Central Street, Evanston (Directly next door to the Mitchell Museum of the American Indian)

Cost:  Saturday and Sunday, the market is free. Artist demonstrations are free with regular museum admission ($3-5). Friday’s preview party is $25 / $20 members.
