Of five vehicle burglaries in Evanston late last week, at least four of them involved unlocked cars. These among the stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

BURGLARY

1600 Madison

Cash was taken from an unlocked 2006 Chevrolet in the 1600 block of Madison Street between noon on Thursday and 8:39 p.m. Friday.

300 Keeney

Cash was taken from an unlocked 2017 Hyundai in the 300 block of Keeney Street between 4:30 p.m. Thursday and 12:30 p.m. Friday.

900 Forest

An unlocked door on a 2007 Toyota in the 900 block of Forest Avenue provided access to a burglar between midnight Tuesday and 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Nothing was reported taken.

1100 Maple

An unlocked vehicle in the 1100 block of Maple Avenue was entered by a burglar between Aug. 2 and noon on Saturday.

1700 Dempster

It was unknown whether the 2004 Chevrolet in the 1700 block of Dempster Street was locked when it was accessed by a burglar between 9:30 p.m. Thursday and 10:30 a.m. Friday, but cash was reported taken.

2300 Grey

A bicycle was taken from the unlocked garage of a home in the 2300 block of Grey Avenue between 8 p.m. Saturday and 7:45 a.m. yesterday.

1700 South Boulevard

A burglar removed a screen in an unsuccessful attempt to enter a home in the 1700 block of South Boulevard between 11:30 p.m. Friday and 10:12 a.m. Saturday.

BATTERY

1818 Maple

Jonathan D. Burgess, 41, of 7544 Columbus Ave.,Richfield, was arrested at 1818 Maple Ave. at 12:50 a.m. Saturday and charged with domestic battery.

OTHER

1700 Orrington

A man with a gun was reported seen in the 1700 block of Orrington Avenue at 8:22 p.m. Saturday. Police checked the area but found no man with a gun.

1810 Dodge

Frederick Bernard Davis, 62, of 1810 Dodge Ave., was arrested at that address at 7:17 p.m. Friday and charged with violation of an order of protection. He is due in court on Aug. 28 at 9 a.m.

SHOTS HEARD

Sherman at Noyes

Gunshots were reported in the vicinity of Sherman Avenue and Noyes Street at 9:36 p.m. Friday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

THEFT

600 Lake

Cash was removed from the wallet of a resident of a homeless shelter in the 600 block of Lake Street between 10 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. yesterday.

1700 Orrington

A cell phone was stolen from the Hilton Orrington Hotel in the 1700 block of Orrington Avenue around 5:19 p.m. Friday.

1800 Sheridan

A bicycle was stolen from a bike rack in the 1800 block of Sheridan Road between 7 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. Friday.

100 Asbury

Hygiene products were taken from the CVS Pharmacy in the 100 block of Asbury Avenue around noon on Friday.

TRAFFIC

100 Ridge

Destynee Tareen Alexander, 21, of 8346 S. LaSalle St., Chicago, was arrested at 100 Ridge Ave. at 6:55 p.m. Thursday and charged with a traffic violation. She is due in court on Sept. 23 at 9 a.m.

Main and Chicago

Juan C. Mendez, 43, of 2829 N. Springfield Ave., Chicago, was arrested at Main Street and Chicago Avenue at 11:43 p.m. yesterday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Sept. 30 at 10:30 a.m.

Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute a finding of .guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
