Traffic was snarled on Church Street in downtown Evanston this morning after a southbound CTA Route 93 bus rounding the corner at Maple Avenue collided with a shopping cart being pushed by a pedestrian.

Evanston Fire Division Chief Paul Polep says the female pedestrian was only slightly injured, suffering a swollen knee.

Police spokesman Perry Polinski says the woman was transported by Fire Department ambulance to Evanston Hospital for treatment of her injury, suffered when the cart was pushed back into her.

The accident happened about 8:45 a.m.
