The City of Evanston sponsors the annual CommUNITY Picnic Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. in Ingraham Park behind the Civic Center at 2100 Ridge Ave.

The event provides free food, games, activities and entertainment in a pre-back-to-school celebration of the city’s diversity.

Entertainment will be provided by the Evanston North Shore Community Choir, the Jesse White Tumblers, the Line Dance Divas, the Mount Zion Choir, the Shakespeare Theatre, the South Boulevard Band and balloon artist Tony Wright.

An array of local restaurants are among the event’s sponsors, including Bennison’s Bakery, Buffalo Wild Wings, Davis Street Fishmarket, D-D Dogs, Dengeos Restaurant,  Flat Top Grill, Hot Dog Island, Merle’s BBQ, Mustards Last Stand, Old Neighborhood Grill, Pete Miller’s, Pop N’ Go Nuts and Prairie Moon.
