A federal grand jury has indicted a 33-year-old Evanston man on charges of assaulting and robbing two postal carriers.

The attacks occurred on Sept. 26 and Sept. 27, 2022, and Everett G. Pullett was arrested the day after the second robbery by Evanston police.

The indictments says that in the second robbery, Pullett displayed a firearm while assaulting and injuring the postal carrier and police recovered from him a U.S. Postal Service key.

The keys give carriers access to secured vestibules and common areas of condos and apartment buildings.

The robberies occurred in the 1600 block of Monroe Street and the 2400 block of Nathanial Place.

Pullett was arraigned Monday in federal court in Chicago and pleaded not guilty to charges of assaulting and robbing the postal carriers and illegally possessing the key.

The charge of assaulting the postal carrier carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in federal prison.
