Evanston/Skokie School District 65 and Northwestern University both have announced that they’ll resume classes on Wednesday after being closed because of the extreme cold weather Monday and Tuesday.

No announcement yet from Evanston Township High School, but on Tuesday officials there said that if there was no announcement, students should assume the school would be open Wednesday.

Although temperatures are expected to be substantially warmer Wednesday, the weather will still be very cold.

District 65 urges parents to “please make sure your child is dressed appropriately.”

Temperatures this afternoon are above the zero mark for the first time in days and a high of 15 degrees is forecast for Wednesday by the National Weather Service.

Northwestern’s shuttle bus service and SafeRide service will operate as closely as possible to their regular schedules, but officials are asking students and staff to allow additional travel time.
