Students at Evanston’s Dewey Elementary School gathered items to help the homeless for a community service project tied to Martin Luther King day.

Organizer Niki Horrell says nearly 170 student brought backpacks, blankets, coats, gloves,scarves, hats, personal hygiene items and food to the school.and then helped assemble 140 packets of supplies for clients at Connections for the Homeless in Evanston.
