Evanston health officials reported eight new COVID-19 cases among city residents today. Statewide there were 1,477 new cases.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 38,234 tests, down substantially from yesterday’s 48,011.

The statewide positive rate today is 3.9%, compared to a seven-day average positive rate of 3.5%.

The IDPH reported tests of 195 Evanston residents today and it found five positive cases for a positive rate of 2.6% compared to a seven-day average rate for the city of 1.6%. The state now says Evanston has had a total of 1,091 cases.

By the city’s count, Evanston has a total of 1,097 COVID-19 cases. The city’s death toll from the disease remained unchanged today at 73.

Chicago reported 245 new cases today for a total of 77,486 and one more deaths for a total of 2,933.

Suburban Cook County reported 250 more cases today for a total of 62097 and four more death for a total of 2,234.

Those who died in Cook County ranged from a man in his 50s to a woman in her 80s.

The state now has 275,735 COVID-19 cases and it reported seven more deaths today for a total of 8,457.

As of last night, 1,436 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 364 patients were in the ICU and 153 of those were on ventilators.
