About 75 people marched down Davis Street in downtown Evanston this afternoon calling, among other things, for Northwestern University to disband its campus police force.

The group, which started an online petition drive earlier this month, also wants the school to cancel its agreements for supplemental police services at events with the Evanston and Chicago police departments and “divest” from the school’s Center for Public Safety that provides training programs for police, and “other law enforcement and military agencies.”

In a statement last Sunday, NU President Morton Schapiro said the school would review the operations of the school’s police department “to ensure that all of our students, faculty and staff are safe and protected.”
