Evanston reported one new COVID-19 case on this Fourth of July holiday, bringing the city’s total case count to 801, while across Illinois 862 more cases were reported for a total of 146,612.

Evanston reported one more COVID-19 death today, raising the death toll here to 70.

Chicago reported 262 more cases for a total of 53,375 and 3 more deaths for a total of 2,631.

Statewide 10 more people died of the disease for a total of 7,014.

The state reorted results of 33,836 more COVId-19 tests today with a daily positive rate of 2.6%, matching the seven-day average positive rate.

Illinois has seen a gradual increase in its seven-day average of new cases recently. After hitting a low of 598 on June 23 the seven-day average has risen to 790 as of today. That contrasts with soaring increases in many other states.
