Evanston school kids will get a day to play in the snow — or help their parents shovel out their cars — today. Both District 65 and District 202 have announced they’ll be closed for the day.

Announcements from both schools say parents and students should assume the schools will reopen on Tuesday, unless further announcements are issued.

Northwestern University will be open. All classes will be held, and all offices and University facilities will be open during normal business hours.

Beacon Academy, Cherry Preschool, Chiaravalle Montessori School, the Child Care Center of Evanston, Midwest Montessori School, Pope John XXIII School, the Reba Early Learning Center, Roycemore School, the Shore Center, St. Athanasius School, St. Joan of Arc School and Total Child day care are also closed today.

The National Weather Service says lake-effect snow showers will wind down this morning, but some additional light accumulation of snow is still possible.

The weather service says we could see more snow on Tuesday night into Wednesday, and possibly again this weekend.
